Yati Ayam Percik @ Prima Saujana Kajang

It is rare to find good quality Nasi kerabu in Klang Valley area (as the good ones can only be found in the morning, sold by Kelantanese makcik/pakcik by the sidewalks). Yati ayam percik is a franchised nasi kerabu seller which originates from Kota Bharu, Kelantan. There are now a few branches scattered around Selangor and KL area (Note: the one in MYDIN USJ has now closed down, they are still selling nasi kerabu, but under the shop name of Kelantan Village) For nasi kerabu lovers such as ourselves, this happen to be a VERY good news.

The front view of their Kajang branch. Operational hours: 11am- 11pm from Sat- Thu. 10am- 11pm (Friday prayer break 1pm-2.30pm) on Fri.

The necessary ingredients of a well formed Nasi kerabu. We prefer extra sambal merah and budu as it makes the rice more flavorful. Otherwise it would be dry.

Daging percik. RM 3.50.(left) Ayam percik. RM3.70.(bottom) Keli percik.(right) Choose the main you want and they will pour the percik gravy afterwards. Nice~

Choices of dish available to suite your plate of nasi kerabu. More than you could ever wish for!

Nasi kerabu with ayam percik and solok lada. (Solok lada is chilli stuffed with fish meat and coconut)

This dish compliments the taste of nasi kerabu well, and this is one of the best ayam percik we have ever tasted. Perfect mixture of everything in their light gravy and is one of its selling point. Very tasty and creamy indeed. Despite being franchised, you can still taste  the charcoal like scent. It taste as authentic as the ones grilled right infront of your eyes. A-W-E-S-O-M-E

Nasi kerabu with solok lada, kepak ayam berempah and jeruk bawang putih.

Dishing it out: Yati Ayam Percik definitely lives up to our expectations of a good quality and tasty Nasi kerabu. Their ayam percik is a must try when you visit their restaurant and safe to say the best dish to go with your nasi kerabu. The only thing they could do to improve is perhaps to use the natural coloring from Bunga Telang (Clitoria which colors the rice blue) as it gives a more natural look to the rice while keeping the authenticity of the original Kelantanese recipe. Total bill amounted to RM23 for the two plates of Nasi kerabu above + apple juice and sirap bandung for drinks.

Coming back for more value: YES for the whole thing, especially the tasty gravy!

Mille Crepe @ www.humblebeginnings.com.my

Tired of buying the ordinary sponge cake, ice cream cake, cheese cake, or mousse cake for your beloved's birthday? Perhaps you are looking for something out of the ordinary to make the already special occasion a little more special.. then give Mille Crepes a try!

Humble Beginnings is a made-to-order cake maker. There are many pick-up points around Malaysia, all you have to do is order online or give them a call. Min- 3days in advance. Note: Picking your cake from pick up points is free, but additional charges are applicable for door delivery.

French vanilla mille crepe. RM68. Regular 8 cuts.

Fresh out of the package. Take your time and breath in the vanilla fragance.

Mille crepe = A thousand crepe. Layers and layers of thin crepe with fresh creme and vanilla custard in between. Truly enchanting.. Best served cold.

Taking off the first layer of caramelized crepe! only the fist layer is caramelized.

Swiss chocolate velvet mille crepe. RM72. Regular 12 cuts.

Chocolate cream + chocolate chunks under each slice of thin crepes.

Overflowing chocolate cream..

Under certain slices lies small bits of chocolate chunks.

Matcha latte. RM104. Large with white chocolate shavings.

Red bean is one of the main ingredient besides matcha creme.

Dishing it out: Personally, we think that the french vanilla so far is the best flavour of the three. Swiss chocolate velvet is good for those who want more taste and chunk in their cake as french vanilla tastes pure and sweet. The matcha latte contains just a little bit too much red bean in it that we could not enjoy the taste of the matcha creme. It would be one of my favourites if they could tone down on the quantity of red bean by a considerable amount =) To make an order, just visit their website.

Tips: Mille crepes are also available independently at certain cafe outlets, however most are sold by slices. Purchasing it by slices would not guarantee the same creamy and moist texture due to extended air exposure. Thus, it is recommended that you purchase them from Humble Beginnings as it is also a cheaper and fresher option.

Restoran Cheras Maju @ Cheras Batu 11

Our favourite shop to get a good plate of maggie goreng ayam. Located nearby the official court used for National Community Basketball League (NCBL), we never fail to drop by every week during the 4 months stretch of Mr FoodPacker's basketball tournament.

Mamak = corner lot. They provide smoking and non smoking seatings, but obviously the outside seatings have a better feel towards the authentic mamak experience. Operational hours: 24 hours

3 layer tea. RM3.70. Sweet, but thats the way we like it! Tips: Order an extra glass of water so you can always refill XP

Ayam goreng. RM3.50 a piece. A MUST have to go with the maggie goreng.
Maggie goreng. RM3.50. This one has a lot of tasty ingredients in it .So far the best combination of ingredients in a maggie goreng we've ever tasted. (Non of that soagy kueh that absorbs oil) If you are a true Malaysian like me, add on A LOT of sauce to enhance the eating pleasure. Trust me, it makes a difference.

Dishing it out: When we crave for good, quality maggie goreng ayam.. this is where we go to. Even during basketball off season, we would sometimes drive all the way here just to get a taste. Only thing is, one plate of maggie goreng ayam would cost RM6.50, but if you were to choose a chicken yourself and then add a seperate order of maggie goreng, it would sum up to RM7. Still not clear on this one..
